Mankind was wiped out in the blink of an eye. Hordes of mindless, flesh-hungry zombies ravaged the world and left a bloody trail of death and ashes in their wake.
Sarah survived that nightmare eight years ago with her son who was born on that fateful day. Now as they struggle to eke out a living in the apocalyptic ruins of Virginia, they hear word of a safe haven in the next state over. A place where she'll no longer have to wonder if her son will live to see tomorrow.
There's just one problem. Standing between them and paradise is over a hundred miles of more than just the undead. Cannibals, lunatics, and murderous bandits prowl the landscape, searching for their next victims.
But facing an impossible journey, Sarah may just have the ace that they need to make it an unexplainable and frightening power her son possesses that will either turn the tide and deliver them to salvation or bring about their destruction and leave them to join the ranks of the dead...
The Fall of Man Zombie Apocalypse Series Book 1 eBook Jeff DeGordick
I have been craving a really good dystopian zombie fiction (similar to World War Z or Forest of Hands and Teeth) for a while so I had high hopes. Unfortunately, I was a tad disappointed. While the story line is pretty ok, I felt like I was reading something written by a college freshman. There was very little character development after the initial outbreak sequence. And while I wanted to like the lead character, I couldn't. I barely knew her. Or her son. There was a lot of "They went over here and then they did this. And they talked to some people and went places." I guess it was a tad one-dimensional for my taste. I think the writer had really great ideas but could use some creative writing work.
Didn't see that anything else by the author so I assume he's rather new to the game. Plenty of time to spice it up.
Five stars for story arc. Two stars for writing style.

The Fall of Man Zombie Apocalypse Series Book 1 eBook Jeff DeGordick Reviews
Here is a great book on what you would likely encounter. The horror of what humanity would turn into, well some of them. Evil lurks in all corners. Loved it. Bought book 2 without reading what it is about.....on to what's next.
A great story of a mother and son in the zombie apocalypse. I liked this story a lot due to the way its a normal basic person trying to survive the apocalypse without being a prepper, soldier or some special scientist type. Well worth reading.
Enjoyed each and every page of this book and anxiously await the next. Heart warming in many segments. Strong main character. Sad parts in here but as in life itself, things happen
I thoroughly enjoyed TFM. In a world where things are precious and few; even life itself, you learn that along the way, however rough it may get, an act of selfless love is most priceless and is perhaps the one thing that may hold the key to human survival. There's also guts and gore aplenty.
MEH! So burnt-out of reading mediocre books. I hate reading a book and feel like I wasted my time. What is up with all the high reviews!?! Poor character development and writing style.
This was a great book that kept me hooked all the way through; and, at times, on the edge of my seat. It was non-stop action from beginning to end. The main characters were not only struggling to survive an exceedingly difficult journey in a sometimes hellish and bleak post-apocalyptic environment, but they were also trying to understand each other. And of course, you find yourself rooting for them all the way through.
The story had great tension between the darkness of zombies and bad people taking over the world as we know it; and the love of family and friends, learning to hope again, and survival against all odds.
Great book!
So glad this is a series - I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book!
I gave this book a chance because I got it for free on my .

At first it was an okay story and we had some survival aspects to the story and some zombies in it, but once the characters leave their home it's all down hill.
There is non-stop pain, misery, suffering and frankly toward the end I began skimming through the part with the bandit camp and the final battle at the end. I was able to tell that once the mom's gun only had one bullet left in it that it would be used to shoot the bandit leader, Jericho.
And once we got to this "Noah's Ark" thing and the mom met Noah, I could tell she was probably going to get romantically involved with him in the later books.

So to sum up, it's boring, it's kinda sadistic and the characters aren't interesting. On top of that, there are barely any zombies in it. They show up so infrequently that I honestly forgot they were in this book. Moving right along, the kid's "power" is so vague and unexplained that it's annoying. And frankly I have zero reason to want to read any future volumes.
The only part of the book I did like was the few pages that had the insane babbling of the scavenger that the mom was trying to interrogate. Now THAT was well written and made me laugh.
All in all, give this one a pass.
